
Conservative-led Tandridge District Council deliver a balanced budget for next year.
Cllr Tony Elias, Leader of TDC, presented a balanced and robust budget based on a £5 or 2.26% increase in Council Tax. Through this budget, the Council have reflected savings of £2.7million, with reserves being bolstered by around £1.3million. This was approved at a Special Council meeting.
Cllr Tony Elias paid special tribute to MP Claire Coutinho for all the work she does supporting Tandridge and its residents particularly in terms of economic regeneration and infrastructure improvements.
TDC’s Capital Budget of around £40million ensures residents get more affordable housing with provision for approximately 77 new homes over the next 3 years and improved facilities for local businesses through developing Quadrant House, #Caterham among other improvements. This budget has been achieved through hard work and dedication of Tandridge officers and our Councillors.
When the last budget was drafted, COVID-19 was a distant issue and it is clear to see the Council have adapted admirably to a new way of living and working.
Tandridge District Council has so far:
· Paid £18million in grants to 1,500 businesses and charities affected by COVID-19.
· Made over 9,000 phone calls to extremely vulnerable residents in Tandridge.
· Increased its green waste collected by 22%, recycling by 17.5% and food collection by 11%.
· Council Strategies have been adopted and have helped the Council effectively and efficiently deliver services to residents.
This budget will help ensure that our District recovers from the pandemic and through workshops and surveys, will ensure everyone gets a say in how our District is run in future. This will also guarantee the Council will continue to deliver excellent services for residents.
The draft budget reflects a Band D council precept for 2020/1 of £225.98 or £4.35 per week.
