Surrey County Council’s Cabinet has approved plans for an 270 extra school places to be created in Tandridge.
Plans to expand two schools were approved at a meeting on Tuesday 26 September – a secondary in Caterham and a junior school in Oxted.
There will be an extra 150 places for De Stafford School in Caterham, and an extra 120 are planned for St Mary’s Church of England Junior School, Oxted.
David Hodge CBE, Warlingham Councillor and Leader of Surrey County Council, said: “Thousands more school places will be needed across Surrey over the coming years at a time when our finances are coming under increasing pressure from rising need across our care services. We’re calling for fair funding for the task we face in meeting demand for school places across the county.”
