The following is a statement on behalf of East Surrey Conservatives by our Felbridge candidate Harry Baker-Smith on the recent death of the Labour Party Candidate in that ward:
“I was very saddened to hear the news earlier this week that Christopher Kelly, the Labour Party’s candidate for Felbridge ward, had sadly passed away.
I had never met Mr. Kelly before, but I was looking forward to meeting him at the election count on the 7th of May.
I have passed on my condolences to his family and to the local Labour Party for the loss of a great activist and friend.
I will not be campaigning for the next few days, and I am awaiting guidance from the Returning Officer about the new date for the election.
All of us at East Surrey Conservatives offer our deepest condolences to Mr. Kelly’s family and friends at this time."
Conservative District Council Candidate for Felbridge
Please note that the elections for Police and Crime Commissioner and Surrey County Councillor will still occur in Felbridge on the 6th of May, but the election for District Councillor is postponed for up to 35 days, with the date advised by the Returning Officer in due course.
